Riddles are one of humanity’s oldest games — the Sphinx was running this exact format four thousand years ago. What is new is an opponent that can generate an unlimited supply of original puzzles, judge your answers with human flexibility (“a clock” counts when the answer was “time”), and calibrate hints to keep you exactly on the edge of solving it.
That hint calibration is quietly the most impressive AI trick on this page: the model has to know the answer, model what you know, and reveal just enough to help without spoiling. Teachers call this scaffolding. The Riddle Master calls it mercy, sparingly applied.

Yes — the Riddle Master is instructed to invent new riddles rather than recite famous ones, so searching for the answer won't help. That's the point.
How does scoring work?
Three points for solving with no hints, two with one hint, one point if you needed more. The Riddle Master announces the running total with unnecessary drama.
What's the difference between difficulty levels?
Warm-up riddles have friendly wordplay, Tricky requires lateral thinking, and Diabolical is genuinely hard — multi-layered misdirection that the Riddle Master is far too proud of.
